Fixture avoidance

Fixture avoidance

It is nice that Fusion can tell you you've hit your fixture. But it would be much, much better if Fusion could not hit the fixture in the first place.

Would it be possible to have Fusion take fixtures into account when calculating 3D passes?

Havent used the CAM part of Fusion much yet, but the other day I watched this video from the Fusion team on youtube that mentions 'touch surfaces' where he selects particular parts of the geometry to avoid. I don't know if this is available in all machining operations..

I don't know if this is what you meant, but perhaps good to know anyway.

This is a common request and something that we plan to add.

In the mean time, if you define your fixtures as "model Geometry" then the toolpath will avoid them.

Hm. You mean in a toolpath, under Geometry > Model Surfaces you add the fixture surfaces? Won't that try to mill those surfaces?

It will only try to mill them if there is stock there (provided rest machining is turning on as well

I see what you mean.
