Export different DXF versions

Export different DXF versions

DXFs that I export directly out of Fusion won't work with the laser cutter and CNC plasma cutter I use; both can only read older DXF formats such as R14.  This means I have to import the files into another program such as DraftSight and re-export them in the correct DXF version.  Could there be an option in the export dialog to choose the DXF version?  Even better, a user setting that would allow you to specify the default DXF version for exporting so that one wouldn't have to change it every time.

Thanks!

I had the same issue when I wanted to bring it into my cnc die cutter.  I had to go through a dxf converter program to bring it back to the autocad 12 version so the program would understand it correctly.  I used AutoDWG DWG DXF Converter.

hi

I have a question, how do you export the dxf files that create fusion in draft sight 2017.

Yes, we really would like some export options. Our laser software struggles with anything that isn't R13.

FYI I just posted the same idea here... with a possible use scenario.

Years later this continues to be an issue.  I currently work with a lot of schools who don't want to pay for an additional program just so that they can send certain files to their machines.  DraftSight is going away at the end of the year, so I'm trying to find new workflows for them, but so far most free programs out there won't correctly read the DXF files Fusion generates, usually because of splines.  Just being able to choose older DXF versions when exporting would solve this beautifully.

Yes, it would be lovely to have a resolution to this issue - eighteen months after I requested one....

Having control over the version of DXF is more and more critical with not only older software and freeware, simplified geometries are important to newer, embedded products, Fusion360 is ignoring something that critical to most of it users whether big or small.

This problem has been ignored for more than 18 months. It's been years. We find ourselves using Fusion 360 and other Autodesk products because of how difficult simple things have become.

This should be taken seriously, the customer base is more than disappointed now.

I agree, I can't believe that this is still this hasn't been sorted after so long?

The current issue, not being able to export to earlier versions of DXF, is a real nightmare in a busy school.  Nobody has the time to export from Fusion, read into another application (Autocad, Inventor, Adobe Illustrator etc) and then save to an older version of the DXF just to be able to read into legacy software.

Schools and businesses are full of legacy systems so if Autodesk could make it easier to export in Fusion (like their other applications!) it would be great.  You can even get this option for Google SketchUp.

Regards,

Tony

PS I love Fusion 360 and it has revolutionised the way we work in school.

It's crazy that this is still not sorted!
