Drag knife tool and tool path in 2D cutting

Drag knife tool and tool path in 2D cutting

Please consider adding a drag knife to the tool library and adding tool paths specific to using a drag knife.

Please include

  • tool axis offset (distance the tip of the knife is offset from the axis of the spindle)
  • a definable angle between two vectors that should be considered a corner
  • a setting to partially retract the blade tip to allow the knife to pivot/swivel at a corner before plunging back to the full depth of the material
  • feed rate
  • multiple passes for thicker materials

It should that the ability to define cuts of A/B parts of an inlay without using a loop move so that there is no material waste.

Also please see suggestions HERE

Thank you!!

I'm working on a tutorial with screen shots and information related to using the Donek Excel Macro to add corner actions to 2D contour toolpath/ g-code generated by F360.

I would be really great to get some help from interested parties and or someone from the development team.

I think there are a lot of users that could benefit from this addition. It would definitely make F360 a more complete package.

I've created a tutorial on adding corner actions with the donek excel utility. See the link below.

After several months of development and testing we have finished a drag knife add-on for Fusion 360. This add-on creates support for the use of drag knives. Users will now have the ability to generate drag knife specific tool paths from within Fusion 360 after installing the add- on.
Features include the ability to specify swivel height, blade offset and corner tolerance angle. The Drag Knife add-on also supports multiple depth passes. The drag knife add-on is compatible with both OSx and PC versions of Fusion 360.The add-on comes with comprehensive documentation as well as a video to assist users in their workflow.
The Drag Knife add on can be downloaded from the Fusion 360 App store.

It is recommended that users also download and install the free NC Viewer add-on from the Fusion 360 App Store or use the online version which can be found at https://ncviewer.com .
