DO NOT FORCE US TO DO CALISTHENICS JUST TO SELECT SOMETHING

DO NOT FORCE US TO DO CALISTHENICS JUST TO SELECT SOMETHING

don't deselect once I go into another viewport

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGHHH I have wasted hours doing a model that should have taken me maybe an hour in Rhino

what the heck

why can't I just create a pipe with two different diameters?

Why can't I just click on one frikkin item YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAJJJ

I am really starting to despise this program

why do i have to click out of twenty different modes to select a body I want to edit? I mean hello! Common sense! If someone wants to edit it they should just have to click on it!  Why don't you just make us do the hokey pokey while you're at it??  control click! ooh would it hurt?!

If i click something keep the **** thing selected when i try to run a command on it!

Oh yeah.....maybe you should actually let the person draw on the construction plane they are trying to draw on instead of having to backtrack 120x

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I'm guessing this won't be received well due to the tone.. but I'm also guessing that the tone is coming from serious frustration with the product and reflects serious issues and annoyances at least some of which I share.

Ok, you are frustrated with some Fusion behavior, but the developers are doing there best do deliver a fantastic !!NEW!! product. Fusion is a new software product and some mistakes in it and i am sure there will be fixed in the next comming updates. Be patient!

To post such problems to the idea station is correct, but please use a more politely way.

I don't disagree about the politeness but it's not as new as it once was 🙂

Fusion360 is a different beast.

It doesn't work as Rhinoceros. We can't draw 2d shapes without using reference planes or faces, there are some rules to follow.

Fusion360 in an hybrid modeler.

Rhinoceros has more controls over 2d shapes, we can move, rotate, scale them freely in the 3d space.

Fusion360 is a real direct modeling program, in Rhinoceros we can't delete a fillet, we can't push-pull geometries as we do in Sketchup.

You can suggest new ideas as I do.

I noticed, I spent 10 hours of my life trying to do something in Fusion
that should have taken maybe 2 hrs in Rhino!!

BTW the coders may be coding as hard as they can and kudos to them for that
but they are thinking like coders, in hierarchies, and not like designers
which makes for insufficiency and inefficiency... and a very, very,
frustrated end user.

(notice how I am ignoring the people who told me to be polite)

SKAZMdesign on Shapeways

Minor editoral but I think telling people to be polite is about as unproductive as being rude.

Frustration implies use. A frustrated user is someone who, for whatever reason, continued to use the product despite things that should reasonably have sent them packing. I believe that every frustrated user you hear from represents a huge number (read: hundreds if not thousands or more) who hit a bump in the road and stopped using F360 or suffered in silence out of decorum.

I know that there's a natural tendency to get defensive and push back but so long as people aren't being unreasonable in their requests, I'd interpret things like this as a response to pain and work hard to find the origin and (if it makes sense) work to ameliorate it.

It may come as a shock but I've personally been, from time to time, a bit frustrated with F360. Yesterday I spent about 10 hours working on something with a few setbacks and my expectations have been so diminished that I was thrilled to have only lost a couple hours and it only crashed a couple of times. That I'm not screaming about that isn't an indication that I've been successfully bribed or that the product is now great but that I just don't care that much anymore. I've become resigned to accepting that things aren't going to work and that they'll take more time and effort than they should.

Me not bitching may feel like a victory, but it's a defeat. I'm still here but I've more or less given up and can no longer summon enough caring about the product to bother screaming.

Re the coders: I've met enough people working on the product that I have no doubt that they're genuinely well intentioned and working hard but there is something broken. This isn't a beta product but it's got the stability of one. Little regressions like my track pad no longer working for orbit in place and me no longer being able to export .STEP or valid .IGES files keep creeping in and then not getting fixed update after update. We're still seeing hours of downtime for cloud updates.. oh well.

I think two thinks here are at hand.

Because Fusion is $ wise approachable to more users like Rhino more unexperienced users will try it out.

However Fusion like Inventor or SolidThinking approach modeling what I consider something from the past.

It makes sense the way how it is structured but I am not sure if it really is that good and efficient. And in that case

yes many things in Fusion take way too much time - and so in SolidWorks. It is not a Fusion problem but just this

silly workflow of how solid modelers have evolved. In addition this work also requires more understanding about

how to structure and approach your design then a generic surface modeler which makes it harder for beginners

to build something complex.

And when you come from Rhino Fusion will be a smack on the face. However many thinks Fusion can do Rhino will

utterly faill at like design history making quick adjustments direct modeling. Thats the area where then the parametric

process excells.

But when it comes to generating the 3D data I really find that after years of experience with solid modelers nothing really

changed. Onshape also makes a new bold we make it all easier - but in reality it is SolidWorks repackaged as a web app.

It again follows the same idea.

I never understood why solid modelers did not integrate a 3d sketch workflow like Cobalt, Alias, SolidThinking and mix that with

solid modeling. Well Catia does but who can afford Catia 😉

I personally have some high hopes that Fusion will break out of that corner and offer a workflow that simply can satisfy

the need of a designer doing conceptual design explorations because for that the typical 2D sketchplan and feature approach

is nerve wrecking.

But again that is not a Fusion fault it is in my opinion due to how this process evolved and I know many who are tired of it.

But it is hard to change an established industry.

On a more holarious note how many CNC operators would love to use splines but are limited to lines and arcs ...

for me thats the best example to show how outdated some of the high end technology is. When generating the CNC data for my

furniture work it always added a lot of extra work to convert the NURBS data into this silly sad format so the CNC software would

accept it.

And I agree on the tone here - Fusion is a pretty fantastic and reasonable product still under heavy development. I think here and there

the team focuses maybe no on what I would consider more important but Fusion the software is just one element of a bigger plan they have

and I think in long term this will be a killer software and environment when done right and that well just takes time.

Alias is old and still has bugs which are not fixed !

BTW this is the idea station this post might better fit into the general forum area.

I feel like there might be some issue with the forum design that pulls people here (I've been around for awhile but somehow don't think I've ever landed in the general forum before just now).

Hmm not sure I bookmarked the main starting page and go to the special sub forums. I just noticed that there is an increase amount of none idea relayed posts here in this sub forum.

Do you like being a troll? You rant more than explaining an idea to improve on.

Your text is written so confusing I still dont know what you are talking about.

Screenshots maybe? They can help.

Aviva - I see where you're going and I don't fundamentally disagree with most of what you're saying, and I'm even a kinda ranty guy here.. but I worry that your approach here isn't going to get very far.

People will focus on how you're saying things rather than what you're saying (which actually has quite a bit of merit if you'd communicate it in a way that they'll get).

the selection process in Fusion can get some loving - but a better formulated idea text works better than all caps text.

I have a really hard time to understand to the point what he is talking about.

Thats why I suggested to leave rants in the general forum section and use the idea station only for

clearly explained suggestions.

I hardly think developers will waste time on text that is hard to read.

You understood me loud and clear. I think that if this "advisor" actually
wanted to fix what the issue is he would bother to read and understand
instead of choosing to be weak and insult me. I wonder if this "advisor"
is a furry LARPing geek hunching over a Commodore 64 in his mommy's
basement in a Sailor Moon costume thinking only guys use CAD software.
(Now THAT's trolling lololololololololol)
