Define parameters on dimension

Define parameters on dimension

It would be nice to be able to create parameters without specifically opening the tool.

Example: While creating a rectangle in a sketch, you decide that you want to create a named parameter, and then assign it to the rectangle. Rather than opening the "Change parameters" tool, you could simply input into the box "myRectangleDim=.1in" and then the rectangle would be dimensioned with the parameter "myRectangleDim" and a parameter named "myRectangleDim" would be created with value of .1in.

Yeah something like this would be great. The current system requires too many hops and discourages people from using parameters.

I completely agree that something this *simple* needs to be added in.  It’s all about eliminating clicks and making the product more intelligent, and this does both.  I think the parameters tools is a bit too cumbersome in most respects and would like to see it improved in general.

Of course, as an Inventor customer, I would expect this.  Seems to be a critical requirement.

This would be fantastic. I'd like to be able to just quickly rename the dimension I'm editing. We could even use the same syntax the dimensions are currently displayed in, like the following:

@herzinj It's been two years. I assume "something this *simple*" must have fallen off the list if it hasn't been implemented yet. Any updates?

@keqingsong @herzinj this idea is accepted more than 4 years already, could you please give an update?
