Dedicated Insert tool

Dedicated Insert tool

Hi everyone,

I would like to request a dedicated insert tool where the user will be able to Move and Join as part of the insert command. I would like this tool to pup-up when copy-pasting a component, dragging in a component from the browser (and data-panel) or inserting a component from a tool library (for example mcMaster-Carr or parts4CAD). I tend to come back on the example of placing many fasteners...

Currently the tool Move/Copy is activated to place a new component, then I will need to join the component afterwards. This all takes quit some unnecessary time for large (and small) assemblies.

I started working on this idea and it all turned out to be a mix of several idea's put together. I feel like the general idea is to mix Copy, Move and Join and then there are a few sub-idea's to merge this with. I've described the sub-idea's in the comment section though some of them might be clear from the mock-up below.

When the Move/Copy tool is started it places the component initially on the 0,0,0 coördinates. I feel like it makes more sense to be able to quickly select a random location on the screen as the initial position. (Much like Inventor and sorts)

Select Component
When dragging in a component from the browser, data-panel or from an external website the selection is already done by Fusion. However, when you want to use a component from your desktop (not necessarily in f3d format, think AnyCAD) you could use the Select button to find that document.

Insert Multiple
Often you will need to place multiple of the same component and you cannot use the Array commands. After checking Select Multiple the toolbox' "OK" button will change to "Apply". Pressing the apply button will not close the tool but only place a component. After placement all setting will be saved for placing the net component, with the exception of setting that deal with other assembly components (the second Joint for example)
When ready, press "Cancel" to close the tool.

Create as Link
When I import a component from a supplier I prefer to have it linked to my assembly instead of the normal insert. This way I cannot accidently change components that come from suppliers. (A linked components should be saved in the Data panel.)

Assembly Type
This dropdown menu shows the following options: <none>, Joint, As built Joint (Capture position is forced on) and Rigid Group.

I realize both the title of the idea as the titel of the tool are a bit vague; "Insert" should be "Insert component".
