Data Panel – Drag & Drop Move
I would like to be able to move documents in the Fusion 360 Data panel with drag and drop at a minimum. Ideally, data panel would allow hierarchical view so it's easy to move items around.
I voted for your idea since Drag & Drop is an expected functionality, but in case you weren't aware of it you can MOVE items around.
Right Click on a project in your data panel and select MOVE. You'll then get a dialog box asking which folder hierarchy you want to move the project file to.
You can also use the Gear Icon to switch between Icon and File List views as well as sorting files by upload date vs filename.
I like this idea very much. To take it a bit further, I wish it would work just like Windows Explorer; incorporating ctrl+c/v and the whole nine yards. Just make it like every other GUI based file management system in regards to movement of files and folders.
Cartainly a vote from me. I believe (hope), however, that with the update that will bring us the branching and merging the UI will also get a few updates.
Yes, I think for the Data panel / cloud storage method to be most useful it should incorporate all the standard file management tools found in Windows Explorer etc.
Thanks for your idea! We're working on a tool to make this easier with windows explorer and finder integration so you can drag and drop design in that a folder structure and see it persist in the data panel, but are not prioritizing this specific solution at this time. We'll keep you posted on our progress.
