Custom install directory.

Custom install directory.

All the documentation i've found around this product indicates it cannot be installed to a custom directory. I have limited space on my C: (it's just for my OS). Installing Fusion360 leaves me with a whopping 53mb of hd space left. Surely what is de facto for virtually everyone other application I can think of can be incorporated in this Autodesk product? You can do it with Maya, Mudbox etc, why not Fusion360?

Please add this feature.

As a workaround, you could probably relocate the user directory/directories to another volume. Not trying to argue your point, just giving you an option.

I think it's a really bad user experience, and extremely bad decision to make on developers side, to not let users choose where they might want to install something that takes a large amount of disk space.

I understand you don't want your users doing things that may possibly break things but I like to think I know my system better than you do...

Bad idea not having the option to install in a user defined location.

I never had problems with this, until yesterday.

I'm at a location where your user appdata directory gets wiped when you shut down the system.

So was looking for fusion today..   gone..

I have the same problem, I was utterly shocked when i realized I could not decide where to install it.
Having this ability too decide where I want to install a program taken away from me never struck my mind, before I had this experience.

Seeing as your post is almost two years old, I'm afraid it will never be added either.

That only works for lab licenses..  as an individual you are not able to download use the admin install

Shame..  hope someone at autodesk is listening!!

New Computers are either partitioned for data ad programs to reside on a d: data drive and the OS on the C:, I now have 2 laptop computers with large space available on the 😧 drive and the C: drive will no longer hold Fusion due to it's smaller size intended for just the OS. The new computer I looked at for CAD is also set up this way. Fusion, you will need to add support for installing on alternate drives or loose customers because of the issue. I am stuck and can't resolve this not because of computing power or available space, but C: drive space and the restriction from installing on the 😧

I agree with previous comments. It would be great to be able to choose the installation drive and directory.

I've had the same problem with other products from autodesk and it still remains an appalling oversight. Having no directory choice for installation is unacceptable, especially nowadays when people install OS on small, fast SSDs or user profiles being stored on company network. How can a serious company not notice this is beyond me! Partition C i just for system, that's like standard IT procedure.

System stuff only on the C: drive, that's the law.

Looks like I'll have to find another CAD package.

For those of us on a laptop with a small SSD as C: and a large HDD as 😧 , the ability to move this to another drive is very important.

just adding my $.02...I'm comparing Fusion 360 against Cinema 4D to determine which app I should invest time in learning. Fusion 360 is coming out ahead as the more suitable app for this kind of work, but being forced to eat up valuable space on my OS partition is definitely making this less attractive. Cinema 4D is offered as a stand-alone download, and when running that installation, I can install on the same drive that I use for other apps...as with virtually every other app I install on this machine.

I hope the Autodesk folks implement a customization option soon! If there are plans to do so, please let the community know. I'm looking at other options for learning a good 3D design package, and it'd be great to keep focusing on this one.

The world has moved on, SSD's are now common and it would be nice if 360 users could take advantage of this new technology.
