Configurations

Configurations

Are then any plans to implement configurations in the same context as Solidworks and what ProE used to do..

I can see simple apps which effectively can snap shot the design table values if you name them accordingly, and I really appreciate the ease of the joints, but it is extremely useful to be able to just have different states of a model saved so it can be referenced in a drawing, i.e., a piston in it's fully extended or retracted state, or a spring in it's free length or compressed length..., not necessarily design table driven maybe just suppressing a joint / comdition. sure I can find a work around but not as clean as true configurations.

It would be great if it could do that, and it would be a functionality that Catia does not have in all the years I have used it..

Keep up the great work and development.......

I agree that this would be really useful. a lot of the work i do requires several configurations of the same component.

In solidworks this is really easy, and you can easily add the configuration table to a drawing. I have loads of drawings with 10-20 table listings each... in F360 that would be 10-20 individual models with individual drawings... that would quickly become a nightmare ensuring that any modifications are accurately replicated across all models and drawings, plus 10-20x the amount of work involved.

This is very important for my work, and the only thing that stops me making the switch from solidworks. I hope this adds some weight to the request.

You got my wote....

For me configurations are crucial as a before and after machining of a cut steel plate.

This to keep track of the original thickness, the one to be cut by for example plasma, and the finished thickness after machining.

In Solidworks terms this is the Machined and As welded configurations.

Absolutely.   We just came across this need today and it could have been invaluable.  One of those "pro" features that makes a product stand out.
