Be able to direct edit parametric variables when editing dimensions

It would be nice to directly be able to modify variables we've made directly from editing dimensions. Like when you set a dimension to a variable, it would be nice to have another box to change that parameter's value without having to go to modify->change parameters.

A really awesome way to implement this would be to allow users to set parameter values by equating them directly inside the dimension input box. For example one could type the expression "variable_name = new_dimension" to both create new variables or to modify existing ones.

This would also enable a more efficient workflow as parameters could be created on the fly as needed.

Paul, thanks for getting this thread going!

Another way to accomplish this and keep more or less the same GUI as now, would be to simply allow right-clicking on the dimension and add the ability to open the Global Parameters window and preselect the parameter in question. If there is more than one, just use the first one. The user can select another one if necessary. Perhaps you could add a little text line which repeats the line from the dimension pop-up so the whole dimension expression could be re-edited at the same time.

The useful direction is to be able to both create and edit dimensions from the dimension box. It is a real creativity chill to have to break out of the sketch phase to to go and setup names of as yet non-existent dimensions. The ideal time is when the dimension box first pops up  and the best flow is to be able to name and size the dimension in the box and then keep moving with the initial layout.

The other item of note connected to this is to create the distinction between local variables within a component and global (overwriting) variables within an assembly or higher level hierarchial component ie. at least the ability to declare global variables and then refer to the values from the local variables within a component. This is the parameter version of the projected master sketch.
