Added keyboard shortcuts

Added keyboard shortcuts

I believe it would be more beneficial to add more specified keyboard shortcuts. This could be done in 2 ways.

1) Adding compound shortcuts such as Alt+"letter" in order to make it easier for more experienced users to navigate

2) By making it so that when you enter certain areas (E.g. When entering sketch mode) There are new shortcuts available for just that areas.

As you can see there is very little in terms of shortcuts for the sketch environment so i believe an increase of them during or out of the environment will greatly increase the usability.

Let me know if there is already a post like this or any suggestions,

Thanks

Ahhhh, thank you i didn't even know those existed @Anonymous

However i still believe they could be shown or implemented in the program as i would never have know their existence if you hadn't show me

Thanks,

Arran

I used to use Inventor for work about 3 years ago and found using the default F2 - Pan, F3 - Zoom, F4 - Orbit in conjunction with the mouse was very productive and fast when trying to navigate around an object instead of clicking on icons and orbit boxs each time.

Ultimately if we had a menu to customise and map shortcut keys (Including function keys) it would make this experience much much better for veterans of Autocad and Inventor people with previous experience

Please Please Please add this feature

For those reading...

Those shortcut key commands are great BUT....IF I am doing a 2d sketch that I will simply loft ...Why can't I use the "f" command shortcut to get a fillet to do a radius on 2d lines?????????????

I have to physically move the mouse open the tab scroll down etc...

Or I could just hit "f"...........better yet make it so when I hit "A" I can do an arc that is the most common. Hitting "r" ...is that the most common rectangle?? I use center point rectangle the most. Remember I am currently in SKETCH mode...have NOT closed out...until doing so..I should be able to do the above ideas. Once I stop sketch I can still modify, create, etc the 3d object and then the shortcuts shift over to that type of work...so now the "f" key will do a 3d fillet.

Thanks and keep up the good work.

@Anonymous+100000 for your comment

I totally agree with your comment. We don't need the material tab with the "A" shortcut !

F for fillet for me is just obvious...

Why can't we just customize our own shortcuts?

Thanks.

Hey everyone, thanks for the feedback. A couple of things I want to bring to your attention.

Tools that have existing keyboard shortcuts show their respective keys in the drop down menu.

Secondly, we are actively working on implementing customizable keyboard shortcuts. We're estimating it coming end of year or early next year. We'll keep you posted on our progress!

Would be nice to the short cut keys to have some intelligence, and know if you in sketch or 3d, so you could use the same short cut,

i.e. if you press F for Fillet and your in sketch then it uses the Sketch fillet command or if in 3d using the model Fillet command, currently it only uses the 3d version even if you in Sketch.

In terms of content aware keyboard shortcuts Revit is a good example of how to do this. Especially since it has very rigid modes, e.g. edit sketch, floor component, walls, etc. each allowing for their own shortcut for some of the commands.

Furthermore, adding letter + letter shortcuts would be really beneficial. For example, currently there are no shortcuts for snaps, if like Revit, we could press S and then E to restrict Snaps to Endpoint, there would be more freedom to keyboard customisation. Amongst others: SM, > Snap Midpoint, SO > Snaps Off and SP > Snap Perpendicular. Users wouldn’t be restricted to using half of the keyboard for one handed operations, as invoking multiple commands requires modifiers, but could instead use keys in close proximity. Lets say: M for move, MM for mirror, ML for mirror and draw the axis.
