Ability to export model into a 3D PDF file

Ability to export model into a 3D PDF file

Hi guys, it would be ideal to have a feature to export models into a 3D PDF viewable file for easy viewing of non-CAD users.

Not sure how it's currently done, but I have a collegaue who can do it form his PC using SolidWorks, though I use Mac.

Thanks.

Have you tried the Share workflows from the A360 project? You can easily share a 3D interactive version of your model with anyone (technical or nontechnical) by selecting Share Item from the item dropdown.

This brings up the Share dialog, where you can grab a hyperlink url like this to share, you can email or even embed the design in a website.

Do you think this sharing workflow would satisfy your needs to share work with non-technical people? And if not, can you go into detail as to what specifically the 3D PDF format offers to solve your problem?

Thanks,

Timera

I need 3D PDF creation because I publish a digital magazine for people building operating model engines. The ability to view a complete engine, look at cross-sections and even change the appearance of the model is very important to me.

I cannot 'share' the model with thousands of subscribers in any other way.

I work with a lot of custom decals & graphic designs that get wrapped around products.

It would be a such a valuable visual tool if I can wrap my customers decal around the 3d object and then export this into a 3D PDF. My sales team can then show customers the 3D PDF for them to visualize what theyre buying and then use the PDF digital signature system for approval.

Fusion 360 already has the graphics wrapping part. So all I need is the ability to export as a 3D PDF, please?

Adobe claims that they can take a CAD file and convert it to 3D PDF so you
might want to check that out.
