Revit Hints & Hacks: Stairs and Railings

Tips & Tricks are too blasé for me. That is why I do Hints & Hacks. Let’s get up on some stairs and railings. You have probably covered the basics for stairs, let’s see about taking stairs to the next level (pun intended). Besides stairs and ramps, how many ways can you use rails?

Commenting to bump awareness: the issue @David_W_Koch pointed out a couple weeks ago still hasn't been addressed. Perhaps in the lead-up to AU this was missed?

It worked for me this morning.

Thanks for helping out today when the road got bumpy for me. Sometimes you just have to remember, it is a live event. I don't care to reach out and ask for help. This is a conversation after all!

I just remembered seeing a post about PyRevit yesterday. I actually have that but I do not usually use anything not OOTB for presentations. I don't want someone watching to think there is something wrong with their software when theirs' does not look the same as mine.

I do appreciate how everyone on the call was trying to take care of me. Thanks again to my village.

Doing stuff live is scary and difficult Sometimes and for some reason if things go wrong the solution you usually just know does not pop into your mind. The PyRevit remark was when you clicked the wrong 3D View where PyRevit will help with that, was more a bit of a fun remark and you are totally right not having all sorts of plug-ins when doing stuff like this.

So thanks for the session about stairs and railings. I'm pretty sure those 2 are the most difficult to do right in Revit, so it was a brave subject to do live 🙂

That is a very nice thing to say. Thank you.

I am looking at doing a blog post with a rail for a sidewalk with an expansion joint post. What do you think?

I mentioned the parapet cap rail in this session. Well, here is a link to the blog post for it.
