Civil 3D (C3D) labels are very useful. Customized Label Styles expand that usefulness. Good use of expressions along with a cockeyed point of view can make for some pretty impressive Label Tricks.

This post is an introduction to a series. It is also my first blog post here, or anywhere.
I hate to say it, but you will not see a lot of content in this post. Trust me, there is plenty more to come.

Me:

A guy who has created a lot of label styles. I am active in the Civil 3D (C3D) forum and have answered or solved more than a few label-related posts. I mostly do site work.

You:

Someone familiar with creating simple label styles. Someone willing to learn about expressions.

The Goal:

Share some good techniques, the what to do, and how to do it.
Share some good practices, the why of doing it.
This will not be a beginner's tutorial.

This will not be an all-encompassing everything you need to know about labels epic.

Acknowledgment and Thank Yous

One nice thing about AutoCAD and C3D is that we are given the tools to customize labels to meet our needs.

One bad thing about AutoCAD and C3D is that we are given the tools to customize labels to meet our needs.

A lot of folks having, similar needs, independently invented label solutions. That is a lot of reinventing and wasted effort. Sharing can save unnecessary effort.

I have learned much from tutorials, blogs, AU Classes, and C3D forum posts.

I sincerely thank those that I have learned from.

I acknowledge the others who made the same discoveries as I.

I make no claims to being first or only.
