Pipe supports often have versions in which the clamps are rotated by 45 degrees. These are used in piperacks in order to created more space around the pipe or prevent clashes. The out of the box pipe supports do not have an option to set a rotation angle yet. Show More

The  Cut Member Edges (PlantSteelEdgeCut) does a really nice job of automatically cleaning up a steel structure, however it fails to clean up corners. Please take this command a step further and clean up the corners where there are obvious Miter requirements when endpoints connect and the Members share the same plane. After the miters, Cut Backs are pretty obvious where the endpoint that is not on the same plane intersects the Miters. Show More

Currently all structural members created in Plant 3D have a a Long Description (Size) as Member plus size and length (eg Member HSS2-1/4x2-1/4 3/16 x 1102.65). No where in the properties does the shape type come through. It would be much more useful for a BOM if the properties or the description field included the Shape Type. The Shape Type can be seen in the structures catalogue but doesn't seem to come into Plant 3D other than when selecting a member in the member settings dialogue box. In Plant 3D, you are able to snap to the end of pipes and fittings and you are also able to snap to the quadrants of those objects which allows you to find the top and bottom of pipe elevations. This is incredibly important when working with other disciplines (e.g. Structural)   Unfortunately, if you XREF a Plant 3D model into any other AutoCAD based software (AutoPLANT, Civil 3D, Advance Steel, etc), you can only snap to the end of pipe location. You can't snap to the quadrant and thus find the bottom of pipe elevation. This is the case even if you have the proper Plant 3D object enabler installed. The idea is that the Plant 3D object enabler needs to have the basic snapping capabilities in all AutoCAD related products - not just Plant 3D. Show More

I am suggesting a feature enhancement that I believe would significantly benefit users of AP3D: the ability to edit structures with more flexibility, specifically by allowing the creation of holes, notches, and other modifications. Here’s what I’m thinking: Hole Creation: Imagine being able to create holes and notches of any shape and size. This would be super useful for making components that need specific voids. Interactive Editing: An interactive mode where you can click and drag to modify holes and notches would make the design process so much easier and more intuitive. Show More

When piping through a floor plate in P3D it would be great functionality if the pipe placed a cut out in the feature so that you can create fabrication drawings from the model and so that clashes were not present in Navisworks when carrying out clash detection. Show More

Right now users can set a separate Slope and Offset Tolerance per joint type by manually editing the DefaultConnectorsConfig.xml. All other joint properties can be set from the project setup. For ease of use, to have users better understand how Plant 3D works and because it is just more streamlined. Our company has internal piping support standards.  I would like the ability through spec editor to be able to create custom supports and save them to a custom support catalog.  They would have long descriptions using our information and dimensions matching our specs.  Our engineers find the available supports within plant 3d to be lacking and clients comment that what they see in the navis from plant 3d does not look like what our cut-sheets show because we use the out of box supports as a visual reference and use iso notes to call out support details.  We have a lot of flexibility when it comes to building spec driven components but not when it comes to supports.    Show More

Can you add the weight calculation of plate to the structural catalogue please. In the structural catalogue there is a plate thickness section ... with area weight and area weight unit... could this be used to calculate the weight of the plate? There is also a section for material which has the weights inputted... could this be combined to calculate the weight of the plate? I think - when creating the plate there are already enough parameters inputted and existing data in the catalogue to be able to calculate the weight of the plate. Then of course this will give a better weight estimation, can be added to BOM in report creator, give a more calculated COG. Show More

Would be great if there was a Plant version of Match properties.  When using equipment or structural components, it would be a huge time saver to be able to apply changes from one component to another. For example, if you had a railing and adjusted the height or kick plate, you could apply those values across all members of that railing.  Same with a pump that was similar, but had been modified by parametric values, or a nozzle, etc.      Options might allow you to select what is being matched, properties, or parameters, etc.  or have some control.   Thanks Nicole Show More

Users would like the abilty to tag, annotate and generate structural components on the orthographic bill of materials. Currently there is no way to do this. If are to include the structural components in the ORTHO they should be able to be tagged and added to a BOM. Show More

Hello,   it would be very helpful if the structural steel grid appears in the orthographic view including the axis name.   Most of the Plant-users need to dimension to one of the steel axes but it is a great effort to create it with lines and mtext. If you dimension to one of the steel axes it hasnt the right "DIM-factor linar" and if you change the scale you have to scale and position the grid by yourself.   Thank you   Show More

For Plant Design Suite 2017, instead of Revit “Structure” only, PLEASE bundle the full Revit instead (Arch, Struct, & MEP).  This would be similar to what is included in the Building Design Suite.  Plant projects would greatly benefit from having the Arch and MEP capabilities of Revit included, and not just the Structure.    2016 Plant Suites only include Revit Structure. Plant 3D Automates the Layers for Piping and Pipe Supports but it would be great to have the Equipment Layers and Structural Layers Automated also in the Project Settings with default layers that can be set to user defined layers and allow duplicates.   For Structural, each tool has a layer setting (Member, Grid, Railing, Stairs, Plate, Footing and Ladder) but the ability to set Member and Plate by Type. For instance Member Settings have a Type similar to the Plate/Grate dialog box (Column, Beam, Bracing, etc) and Plate Settings (Plate, Grating and add Concrete to the types) allowing each type to have its own layer.   Equipment could be done by all Equipment on the same layer or each sub-category can override the parent category for it's own unique layer under the Plant 3D Class Definitions for the Equipment node and it's child nodes.   Show More
