In Project Setup there is a section for P&ID DWG Settings and Plant 3D DWG Settings which correspond to two separate databases in SQL as well. This made sense pre-2017 when there were two products, but that is no longer the case. There should be one single database for everything. Using a pump as an example, Pump P-1000 on the P&ID should be the exact same pump P-1000 in the Model PERIOD. All Properties that are on the P&ID pump such as Flow Capacity, Dynamic Head, Voltage, Phase, Frequency, etc. should also be on the same pump in the model. If I change the Flow Capacity on the Model, it should change on the P&ID and vice-versa because it is the same exact pump and data in the database.   I should not need a Service List in P&ID and a Service List in P3D - because it is one database and therefore one single list. In Report Creator I should see all the Equipment in both the P&ID and the Model even if a tank is in the Model and not on a P&ID yet or vice-versa. One database, one data for all.   Is that not how BIM is supposed to work? The only thing that keeps it from working in Plant 3D is the fact that the two databases have not been combined and since the software was combined in to one in 2017, then there is no reason whatsoever the database cannot be combined today. I should be able to go to a Gate Valve, see all the the Properties regarding that valve as well as the P&ID Symbol preview and setup with a single setup of the Tag format plus the P&ID Valve Annotation as well as the Orthographic Annotation. All data whether that valve is in the P&ID, the Model or Both.   No need for P&ID Object Mapping - they are already the same objects. No need for Pipe Spec Object Mapping - they are the same object. No need for Validation of Property Mis-Matches - they are the same object. No need for duplicate information and entries - they are the same object. No need for separate reports - they are the same object.   One Single Place for Settings. One Single Database. One True BIM Solution. Currently when an equipment item is selected in Navisworks, the entire equipment item is selected including the associated nozzles. The nozzles on the equipment item cannot be individually selected.   In some cases only the nozzle needs to be selected to quickly see perhaps the nozzle tag or just the properties on the nozzle. Just knowing the selected nozzle tag is helpful when identifying what it is connecting to in the connecting pipe line run.   Would like to see in the future that Plant 3D equipment nozzles can be selected individually. Hi Team,           As is well known, Autodesk AutoCAD Plant 3D offers a high degree of flexibility for building plant projects with efficient data flow. It is very simple for me to create new P&ID class definitions in the project setup when I use Plant 3D, and I can also add custom properties. This flexibility is not possible for me to use while working with plant 3D class definitions. When I create new 3D components in Inventor and use Plant 3D to manage the data, it will be more flexible if I have the option to add new Plant 3D class definitions and custom properties in project setup.  Show More

Currently there's only P&ID linelist for Plant 3D link to P&ID and no equipment list. It would be great to have a P&ID Equipment list, and the command when selecting the Equipment in Plant 3D model then jump to the mapping P&ID drawing automatically. Thank you. Show More

Good morning,   It would be useful to be able to move spec components using their geometry and not only their ports. Sometimes it is better to use a corner or the center of the piece instead of the ports. In Autocad Plant 3D I would like to add a description to a nozzle eg Water Inlet and be able to see this when hovering over the nozzle in the rollover tooltip.   For created items of equipment it is possible to edit the Short Description to give a description of the nozzle but it is not possible in the CUI to include any other description fields in the tooltip. It would be helpful if the tooltip could be customised.   For custom equipment, where only the location of the nozzle is defined it is not even possible to edit the short description and for this to display in the tooltip. This is an enhancement request to have the ability to add new classes (equipment types) under the root of the Equipment section in Project Setup. Currently, any equipment that doesn't fit into one of the existing classifications would have to be created under "Misc Equipment" using a tag prefix or some other designation to identify the actual type of equipment on a report. Have all “plant parts” including the custom block-based parts be managed by the color scheme from the project setup color painter. Currently, this is not the case for block-based parts where changing the piping color scheme does not change the color of block-based parts. Show More

Would be great if there was a Plant version of Match properties.  When using equipment or structural components, it would be a huge time saver to be able to apply changes from one component to another. For example, if you had a railing and adjusted the height or kick plate, you could apply those values across all members of that railing.  Same with a pump that was similar, but had been modified by parametric values, or a nozzle, etc.      Options might allow you to select what is being matched, properties, or parameters, etc.  or have some control.   Thanks Nicole Show More

Clash detection is a vital part of 3D design. In the Plant systems elements are typically displayed with representative objects only. This can lead to errors when performing clash detection and ultimately expensive field reworking.   What I think should be added to Plant 3D is the ability to add shapes to all components at the catalogue level to provide administrator level control of default clearances. For example valve maintenance and actuator operating clearances, exchanger coil removal clearances, service access to equipment, clearance objects for space around ladders and platforms to confirm operator access. If added to a catalogue these could be dynamic, taking the diameter of a hand wheel for example and adding hand clearance, so if the wheel diameter is changed the clearance adjusts to suit, or similar clearance features for swing type valve actuators (lever).   In addition to the administration level control it would be great to be able to manually add basic shapes to the model and then be able to “convert to a clearance object”. This would allow designers to factor in any space need to be kept clear easily and would lessen the need for high volumes of administrator added spaces. For example pedestrian clearances in pipe racks or even spaces reserved for future expansion.   These elements should be very simple transparent shapes that should be able to be toggled on and off (similar to the insulation).   I have attached a basic model to demonstrate some options as an example. Currently, you cannot select a single nozzle the Navisworks 2017. Instead you highlight the entire piece of equipment and under the AutoCAD tab, the nozzle sizes are listed in a string.   Identifying nozzle tag, size and class are a critical step in some model reviews. It would be ideal to be able to select individual nozzles in the Navisworks model see the nozzle designations and information.   I hope to see this improvement in future updates.   Thanks, Erin Show More

Plant 3d should allow defining the nozzle length on heads from a datum line or tangent.  Right now the length is given by the intersection of the head to the face of flange, which is not a dimension normally given in a vendor drawing. Show More
