Unable to install custom procedural | Mandelbulb Tutorial

I'm using Maya 2020 and MtoA 4.0.0 / Arnold Core 6.0.0.0 and referencing the following tutorial:
https://docs.arnoldrenderer.com/display/A5AFMUG/How+to+Render+a+Mandelbulb
and these forum posts:
https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/maya-forum/arnold-procedural-mandelbulb-proc-dll/td-p/7108280
https://answers.arnoldrenderer.com/questions/21339/installing-mandelbulbdll.html

My problem is that I get the following error:
// Error: [ass] line 79: node "mandelbulb" is not installed //

I opened the Maya.env file and set the ARNOLD_PLUGIN_PATH equal to the absolute path of the folder containing the mandelbulb.ass, dll, dylib, mtd, and so files. I also created the python template file as described here: https://answers.arnoldrenderer.com/questions/21339/installing-mandelbulbdll.html and set the MAYA_CUSTOM_TEMPLATE_PATH in the Maya.env like this:

ARNOLD_PLUGIN_PATH = C:\solidangle\custom_procedurals\bin
MAYA_CUSTOM_TEMPLATE_PATH = C:\solidangle\custom_procedurals\ae

After creating a stand-in and loading the mandelbulb.ass file, I set the Render Settings > System > Search Paths > Plugin Search Path to: C:\solidangle\custom_procedurals\mandelbulb_proc.dll

All attempts and other variations of the above steps result in the same error. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Get an Arnold log with verbosity level Info.
If you set ARNOLD_PLUGIN_PATH correctly, you'll see this:

If you don't see anything about "loading plugins" for mandelbulb, then check that ARNOLD_PLUGIN_PATH is set.

In the Maya script editor, you can run system( "set ARNOLD" ) to check

Thanks, Stephen. It was due to a non-compatible Arnold version. I was using 6.0.0.0, but this was compiled with 6.0.1.0. Updating Arnold fixed the issue. Thanks for the help.
