Solid cutaway (solid cut with clipplanes)

Solid cutaway (solid cut with clipplanes)

It will be good to have a solid cut when using clipplanes.

or, like it is possible in keyshot, for example, use other geometry as a cut object in conjunction with a special cutaway material.

Working with mechanical stuff now I have to really cut the model with Inventor.

best

Correct me if I'm wrong, but as soon as VRED converts CAD data to surfaces and polygons, any information about "solids" is lost as far as I know.

I can't think of a way how VRED would evaluate the area between surfaces and come up with a solution for the question whether the area should be a solid (and thus appear with a planar surface when cut) or be like the air between components.

The normal vector (A-/B-Sides) might help to support certain algorithms, but false evaluation and undesired side-effects might be the norm.
