Scene export to Autodesk Viewer and QR code

Hello Everyone,

I'm trying to export a VRED Pro scene via shared views to be seen in Autodesk Viewer for a client presentation.

The reason is based on the feature to explode the model and see all the detailed parts and components.

Few questions for you:

(1) Once the scene is exported to Autodesk Viewer, all VRED/substance materials are gone and a solid grey material is applied to the model. Any ideas here?

(2) I was looking after a way to share the Autodesk Viewer address in a document using a QR code. Is that possible?

(3) Last but not least, any suggestions or alternatives?

Just google Vred Go. Sounds like what you need.

I’m aware of the Vred Go option.

Unfortunately, that’s an exe. file and I’m looking after a web solution (Autodesk Viewer) and the built feature to explode the models.

I mean in order for materials to come through, Autodesk Viewer would have to be able to support them. Clearly it does not support Vred/Substance materials. There would need to be a common material exchange format for that to work.

Maybe look into Vred Stream and have your clients connect to a running version of your vred to explore the model.

Otherwise you will have to apply more simplistic materials to your model. What format did you export out of Vred with? I am not even sure how vred even passes their materials.

i think that it is not an "exported format" problem, because shared view  is based on an export of the native format.

It is the same if you upload your vpb file directly on your Autodesk drive via the Autodesk desktop Connector.

In the Autodesk viewer are supported only basic material option, not at all procedural vred materials.

But maybe in the future...

I quote @richardlevene  to test the Stream option to share your project. Not only you have the perfect appearance, but also the interaction you create in Vred.

But if you want the "exploded" view of the autodesk viewer... 😁

For the QR code you can convert your link to the shared view in a QR code. Google "link to QR code" and you'll find many converters.

Thanks for the comments.

The online QR suggestion was helpful. Indeed there are several services available.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but streaming the model online works only when your VRED session is open.

I'm looking into storing several models for view online on demand, hence the Autodesk viewer option. I believe VRED streaming won't suit here.

Hi Paulo,

you are right: the steaming is possible only with Vred opened (Pro or Core)

And if you need more then 1 concurrent sessions, you need more then 1 Vred running.
