Render Queue change Material

Hello, I have the problem that when I add a Rendering to the Render Queue. It change the material of one Mesh and just assign a other one. Other meshs with the same material assigned still keep it, but only one mesh change the material. This happens the moment it saves the variantsets. Did anyone had this problem too? best regards Duc Phan

Hello,

the variant sets capturing (which is part of a render job in the render queue) needs unique names for nodes in the scenegraph. Otherwise you get unexpected effects like changing materials. The solution would be to rename that mesh before capturing / adding to the render queue.

I have asked about this before as it is not possible. I requested that somethng like this be added in the Optimiser module. I think my request fell on deaf ears.

If people here who are at big automotive companies think this would be useful then please request it as it will get in vred quicker.

My company is at the bottom of the food chain when it comes to requests.

But while we are at it, it is remarkable that vred does not use an objects unique node name for this. I am sure there is a reason. Would like to know.

Since 2017 there's an improvement for render queue and variant sets capturing. If you add a render job or capture a variant set, VRED checks for ambiguous names and shows a dialog whether you want to rename those nodes (it's done automatically then). When using it you need to be sure that this does not break anything else in your scene that's already set up and based on names.
