OpenGL: Realtime Shadow has the ground shadow flickering (VR)

With Realtime Shadow (OpenGL setting) I've been having an issue with my vehicle's casted ground shadow flickering between extremely dark to faint. In certain instances and views it will be consistent, while in others it will flicker, like its blinking, when I rotate around on the desktop view and in VR. 

 

I've had this problem before and was able to fix it by re-creating the entire scene from scratch, thinking the file was corrupted. I'm having the issue again with a brand new scene and tired the following:

- Turned off Ambient occlusion shadows

- Cleared any baked shadows

- Played with the Directional Light's shadow settings

- Created a new ground plane with shadow material.

 

My file contains 3 large utility vehicles with production data and not sure if the amount of data is causing an issue?

 

Has anyone ran into this problem before?

Hi, maybe you have the shadow plane, the bottom plane of the environment dome and/or another plane like your ground plane, overlapping?

With transparent materials applied you never should have overlapping planes.

Hi Chris,

 

I've noticed that caused problems in the past and removing the overlapping planes fixed that issue. I've been creating the scenes going forward with a single ground shadow plane and even tried raising it in increments to see if it was flickering because of overlapping with the environment dome, but with no success. 

 

In the past, my team had resaved files as multiple copies and noticed it was causing bugs. When I would create a scene from scratch it seemed to fix the issue, but unsure why with this new scene the same shadow flicker is still happening.

Hi, could you share a sample scene with the issue, maybe with cubes instead of your vehicles?

try changing the transparency draw order method.

visualization - advanced open gl settings - transparency mode.

 

i had a scene that made the shadow plane appear and disappear depending on the viewing angle and this got it solved.
