motionblur a dome

I have a very large HDRI dome(48Mp) that I want to use as a backplate. I would like to animate the dome to add motion. Upon animating the transforms from the curve editor I found the dome is being camera mapped in realtime. Is there a way to:

option1

1. break this connection, so the texture coordinates are baked on the dome.  This would allow me to transform the dome.

option2

2. or animate the texture manipulator via python.

option3

3. The only other way I could thing of is to export the dome, map it. Then reimport the geo and use as a lightsource. Although I haven't figured out a way to have a shader be 100% self illuminating.

Thanks,

Jeremy

Hi,

the "correct" way to do it is by attaching the camera to your model and just moving the model, just like you would do in the real world.

The other option is to animate the center attribute in the environment material to move the coordinate frame of the environment.

Kind regards

Michael

Hey

Would it be possible to get a tick box in Transformation of HDR to link it to a:

1. Object that is applied to
2. Linked to a group.

I would like to apply 1 HDR to multiple objects in scene, rotate objects and get the rotation translated to texture so texture rotate as well...

I also would like to be able to have 2-3-4 different speed "motion blur locators" in scene so that if we want to have it moving slower we can just move HDR to different group and have it behave as expected...

Doable maybe?

Hi,

since the environment material can be assigned to any number of options there is no way to create such a link.

You should rather try create separate clips on the animation of the center attribute and then choose the corresponding clip for playback.

Kind regards

Michael

Uhh thats worrying. What about a UV texture option, atm we have UV and Planar (Phong>Diffuse texture>Mapping type). Would it be possible to add spherical per object? Same goes for tyre materials and any sort of materials that needs UV cords really. Right now tire material is useless as I would need 4 tyre materials to cover all 4 tyres. Having an option to map one material per multiple objects is something of importance... if we don't want to have 1000x instances of materials of the same type...

Sorry for hijacking the thread...

Thanks for the reply Michael! Worked like a charm.

It may be faster to do motion blur in post on HDR and then use that for ur scene. Then u dont need to spend any rays on motion blur...

I see. Add the motion blur in Virtual RIG?

If I can get approved motion blur rendered I would rather do it there as it more accurate, but post always give more options. Vred doesn't have a motionblur vector pass though. Here is one frame I sceengrabbed showing the motionblur on the dome + vehicle. I'm still shading the car and just doing tests for the moment. The idea is to create a 360 environment in motion, a'la matrix sytle. Too bad you can't load in a movie into the backplate. May have do some python to see what can be done.
