HTC VIVE Display Problems with QUADRO P6000

Hi

I got a brand new machine running 2 Quadro P6000 under W07

I'm using VREDPro version 2018.4 .

I'm using adaptator HDMI --> DisplayPort for the connection from the HMD to one of the Quadro P600 (only display port are available on such kind of graphic card)

Vred can't have access to steamVR (see snaphot) when I'm turning view display as "Open VR HMD"

I have perform several tests with SLI mode or 2 separate Quadro mode , result is the same ...

I have read somewhere that the HMD  should be plug on the same graphic card than the main display and it's the case here .

Do you have any idea to help me in this graphic conf ?

Your screenshot shows that SteamVR can see the VIVE i.e. it should not be an HDMI issue imho. It may be an issue with the SteamVR version not being compatible with VRED 2018.4 (we are still on 2018.2 so I can't give you a tip which version works)

The VIVE connection box does also have a Mini-DisplayPort and you can try to use this connection instead of HDMI - when we started with the VIVE we had some issues with HDMI adapters and use a simple DisplayPort-to-Mini-DP cable since then without issues

Regarding the SLI setup

- you should connect all displays (monitor(s) and VIVE) to one card and leave the other card empty

- the SLI connection should be a HB (High bandwidth) cable or plug

- SLI needs to be activated in the NVIDIA driver

Hope this helps

A recent SteamVR version should work fine in combination with a somewhat recent Nvidia driver (have not tested the latest 390.xx driver but I don´t expect any issues with it).

Regarding SLI: Additional to activating SLI in the Nvidia driver you need to set the Preferences in VRED (RenderOptions->Visualization Advanced) to Multicast Stereo.

The SLI bridge on the other hand should not be necessary anymore with Quadro GPUs although it is probably still good to have one so the driver doesn´t annoy you all the time.

Kind regards

Michael

Thanks you very much guys !

it works fine now 🙂

I guess combination of :

changing cable to "DisplayPort-to-Mini-DP "

+

"Regarding SLI: Additional to activating SLI in the Nvidia driver you need to set the Preferences in VRED (RenderOptions->Visualization Advanced) to Multicast Stereo."

+

using only 3 viedo outputs (1 DVI for main monitor + 1 DP second monitor + 1 DP for HTC) not more . I didn't work if you use the 5 possible outputs of the graphic card...

have succeed .

Thanks you again
