hi guys.
i have a film from 3M that i need to simulate in VRED.
the film is applied onto a polycarbonate glass.
the film is blocking 90% of light.
would be ok to use glass shader transparency to simulate obstruction, or is it better to use other parameters? ๐
thanks in advance

I am not sure to what extend you need to simulate it. If you just need an extra layer on top of another (non-glass) material using a layered material with a glass material on top of the other layer should be fine. But if you need to have thin-film effects (these famous rainbow colors) you will need to use an MDL or MaterialX material with a thin film effect in full global illumination raytracing.
no, nothing very special.
i have a situation in which a lot of light is coming from certain windows, making hard to read certain displays. a supplier has provided us samples of smoked films to apply on the window (same of those of cars), and my boss was asking to simulate the effect in order to decide which sample to test in the real application.
