Avoid reflection for a particular object

So let's say I have an object which has an entirely polished surface that reflects a lot. This object also has some other parts attached to it. My problem is: I don't want all these parts to be visible in the reflection of my main object (most of them should be seeable, but a few ones shouldn't). Is there a way to disable reflection  just for a specific node in the scene, or to turn off reflection for a material so that all nodes that have that specific material applied don't get reflected?

Take a look at the renderlayer module (ignore the naming, these are not really layers). It allows you to control various visibility aspects for groups of objects, including visibility in reflections.

Kind regards

Michael

This is how it would look like in the Render Layers...Renderlayers.png
