publishing with sheet set manager

I have routines that run when a drawing is opened. Is there a way to detect if a drawing us being opened by a user or by sheetset manager during a publishing process? I want to prompt for input from the user but not during publishing.

If you enable the 'Publish in background' setting for the sheet set manager, does it still automatically load the routines for input?

We do not use publish in background.  I am just wondering if there is a system variable that is set during the plotting when sheetset manager is opening drawings for plotting. You can detect when a script file is running so i am looking for a way to tell if a publishing is happening.
