Old Lisp routine

A agree the PROPERTIES command works fine, and is very powerful when one
really understands all that it can do, however it can be more cumbersome for
certain tasks. I did carry along CHT (the old Change Text) lisp command,
even into AutoCAD 2004. Example: changing a bunch of text for a mispelling,
CHT is faster because it automatically filters out non-text entities (of
course, it needs updating to work on MTEXT entities too). Doing a text
string "search and replace" with the PROPERTIES window is much more of a
challenge.

With PROPERTIES, selecting a bunch of varied text, the content field will be
listed as "*varies*", thus can't be globally edited to perform a partial
text string search and replace. If the multiple selection are all MTEXT
entities, one gets an additional "dot dot dot box", which brings up the
MTEXT editor which steps through each text item one by one, but still can't
be edited globally. I do understand that if I pick a bunch of text items,
and they all say the same thing, each with a misspelling perhaps, I can
globally change the text value of each to a new value, but I haven't found
an easy way to do a text substring "search and replace" with PROPERTIES.

We also brought forward the DDCHPROPS (actually "ai_propchk" command)
command, which seems faster for changing enties from one layer to another...
better than the minuscule properties text where it's harder to pinpoint
which of the tiny little fields one needs to access.

Two items I'd like to see implemented to improve the Properties window (in
2004).
1. Change the UI... get rid of the little "plus sign" icon (for the PICKADD
sysvar) in the upper right hand corner, which fools everyone into thinking
its the button to close the properties window (default location for the
Properties window "close window" button is in the upper left for some
reason!)
2. Add an APPLY button to the properties window, which would remove the
highlighting on selected entities, apply the changes, and allow selecting
more items to change properties on, without having to hit ESC in between.

I did carry the CHT command too. But for mispelling, I use "Spelling" command. For search and replace, I use "Find and Replace". They are much better than R14.

The thing I like about CHT is that you can edit text in a "sequential"
manner. You can edit each text in the order that you selected them. I
agree though that I wish you could use it for mtext. Properties and the
other stuff have their own useful attributes.
