I have wanted to do this for a long time, but I think Civil 3D offers more than what I had in mind.

My idea would be to actually design a collection system, using the Rational Method to solve for the most efficient pipe sizes and slopes adhering to minimum cover requirements and other constraints.

Don't you use C3D?  If not, then maybe you should spend your money in that direction.

Then again, how many users would be using your requested software?

@mohamedashraf2014m ,

Have you already looked into Part Builder for Civil 3D yet? It sounds like exactly what you're looking for.

@CodeDing

That looks somewhat promising.  Just Friday I was invited by a former employer to join them remotely "after hours" to help with their workload ($90M backlog).  One of the guys there whom I taught and mentored in Land Desktop has blossomed and is using most every feature C3D has.  Sadly, he is one of a kind, but now he wants to teach me what he knows so that the company can have a pair.  The two of us used to get most every complicated design done together.  I'll have to ask him if he uses that feature.

Even though I would be working at home, I've become lazy in my elevated years.  I guess I could try it out and if it isn't working then drop it.  I shouldn't let my oldest brother (87.5) outperform me.  But it would take time away from my having fun with you guys and gals.  😕

Like you John done to many drainage designs, the pits for us get done by the pit supply company here, so it sounds like that is what is involved. We supply a layout dwg and schedule etc. They work it out from that.

So would start with basics

1st step choose type

Next

SeaHaven_0-1645247786044.png

The next step would be invert details for pipes

And so on drawing a full dimensioned pit.

Its not rocket science concrete tilt panels have been around for a long time. Similar process.

Using dynamic blocks for the pits may speed up the process.

I can see if using the CIV3D add on your locked to CIV3D lisp runs on so many platforms.

Good point, Alan.

When I worked at Hatch Mott MacDonald we had numerous government projects that required shop drawing approvals.

The manufacturer would supply us detailed plans for every manhole and inlet (pit) for us to review and approve.  I'd say that less than 5% were incorrect.  But the point is that the owner should require shop drawing submittals.  Not every manufacturer makes their product the exact same way, so you have to give them the latitude to create their own design, and then reject it (and require a resubmittal) if it doesn't meet the designer's approval.

From a business standpoint, you're going to make about the same income whether you do a detailed design ahead or a detailed review after.  Actually, you will probably make out better doing the review rather than the design because the owner will beat you down on your contract price whereas he's going to pay you T&M for the review.
