Making text extrudable solid

I am trying to put initials onto a slightly curved but otherwise smooth surface of a 3D solid. Is there any way to:

a) create vertical text along a curved line

b) make this text a solid that can be extruded or pushed in to create an "engraved" look on the slightly curved solid

As for the curved text, see if the ARCTEXT command (an Express tool) helps. You could combine this with a text style that's vertical to create your desired vertical text effect.

Re extruding text: Try the TEXTEXP command (also an Express tool) to explode the text. You can then convert to it into polylines or regions and extrude to solids. I've also "printed" text to a DXB file to "explode" it.

HTH.

Another great tool to turn text into line work is Sean's T2G code .. quite a bit more accurate than the express fools version :).
