Long Layer name

I modified my layer box so I can see the long layer names,

but texts will just cut off and will not show entire name on the box.

What do I need to do to fix this?

It seems you would like the long layer name to column stay locked in this wider position, correct? 

This would be customization that would require something like editing programs or creating a Customized Workspace.
