field expression "Object Position" additional format dialog box inactive

Hey all,

I'm attempting to build a label for coordinate layout, and I would like my labels expressed in feet (currently inches, desired conversion factor: .08333)

the problem is my conversion factor window on the additional format dialog box is greyed-out and not editable. 

I would also like to edit the number separators for thousands, but I can live with just fixing the conversion factor...

any insight on what's wrong, or potential workarounds would be greatly appreciated.

First under Field names select Formula

In the Formula window right mouse click and select Insert Field

Now under Field names select Object and complete the process as you've done originally then click  the OK button

Back in the original Field window click the Evaluate button

Now the Additional Format button appears for you to click on:

Enter your Conversion factor and click the OK button:

Now the Preview will show the converted value from inch to feet:
