Edit an Image for customized CUI commands

... FYI: For a long time now I've used Snagit to build my images for toolbars, palettes.

This is the first time creating Ribbons. 

I can build images for my customized commands and apply them in CUI editor and they show up just fine.

But over several releases now if I want to modify the image I cannot seem to get the image to update in CUI editor. In one release I had to first pick a different image & apply it... then open CUI back up and pick the updated image via browsing. If I recall correctly this seemed to work. However now I am having some frustration. How can I do this?

Anyone know the trick to this?

I've found that I have to edit the image file and do a save as to a new image file name that has not yet been previously used.

This seems to be the only workaround.
