controlling layer property depending on selection of other layer

Hello All;

I am in to a project where we have multiple layer for different option. is there any way by which we can change other layer visibility (ON/OFF) or Unlock / Lock layer depending on layers we select.

for eg  have 4 layers say A;B:C and D

now the selection criteria is that we can have only layer combination of A and B, so when i first VP freeze my layer A in layout, i should have only option to swith on layer B, rest layer selection should not be possible

Hey,
Have you tried using the layer states manager? This should create different layer states without having to do a VP freeze, you shall just have to switch to the layer state you desire while in the layout.

Hey,
Would you upload a sample drawing so that we look at it from another point of view to achieve the same result?

Hi @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

 I am not sure that what you are asking can be done with built-in commands but to make sure that I understand better, can you share a Screencast or perhaps a file?

It sounds like you are trying to control the layers through a viewport and from there I am not sure I comprehend the intended process.

If the layers are always named the same then you could perhaps create a routine that utilizes a reactor to change the other layer(s) properties.

I think you can name layers with some criteria so that you can set up a few layer filters to suit your purpose.
