Changing layer color from tool palette tools

We are changing our standards, which requires changing some of our layer colors. Our blocks are typically created on layer 0, tihe line type an color properties set to ByLayer.  I changed the layer colors in the library drawing, but the palette keeps bringing in the old colors.  Is there an easy way to reset the colors pulled by the tool palette?

The tool in the palette saves the path from where the block is inserted. So check the path and update if necessary.

If the path is correct, and you insert a block to the drawing where is the old one, then RT click on a tool icon and select Redefine.

The path is correct, and I am inserting into a clean, empty drawing. I suspect the palette stores the layer color in the .XML or .ATC file and requires redefining the tool within the catalogue.

If the color is set in tool properties (RT click properties..), then yes, it would be stored in *.atc.

Found what I was looking for.  Copy tools to be modified to a new palette, disassociating them from the current catalogue. Open the modified library files, and reset the layers for the tools on new palette. This apparently picks up the layer color change.  I should now be able to insert the tool from the new palette into the catalogue, redefining the catalogue version of the tool.

So you have Architecture or some Toolset that you use a "catalogue."... You should have said so.

Sorry, thought the use of tool palettes implied the catalogue.  Forgot basic AutoCAD (last time I looked) doesn't use one. Yes, using AutoCAD MEP platform for our custom palettes and catalogues.
