Change object by draging points

Hello, everyone. I have an issue with changing objects by dragging points:

As you can see, I need to select many points（press down Shift when selecting） for changing the object, and sometimes it will select the object itself by mistake, which will make me need to re-select all the points again. So, is there a good way to select all the points just like select by cross window mode（just like select objects by two points）?

Any ideas? Thanks!

I didn't find a good way to solve this by AutoCAD itself. Might need the help of AutoLISP?

Have you tried Stretch command lets you select segments of say pline, need to look at using window select, right to left and compare left to right.
