ASSOCIATIVE HATCH AFTER TRIM

Hello, Today I was working in one drawings and I found someone else block. 

 

When I explode the block and trim it in middle, then delete right part, it Deletes also with half hatch and hatch stays associative so I am able to stretch that and hatch is stretching with boundaries even when trimmed.

 

My block is stretching hatch too but once I explode it and trim, Hatch is no longer associative.

 

I am assuming there is some script which making hatch works differently. I Would really love to know how is this possible and how I can create something like that too. 

 

I attached DWG to better understand what I mean.

It would be more about the block definition than anything else.

Although, not clear to me how you trimmed it to get a different result. Seem to me that both behave in the same fashion.

 

Edit: It seems to me that the above block was hatched by selecting the outer boundary object, while the lower block by picking a point inside the boundary.

It has nothing to do with block definition, only thing I know is that the guy who created that block is using some kind of script for Hatch, he is not using actual command hatch, He is not able to gave me that script, since he works for really big company and he cant share it.

eurocabinetsinc "associative" hatch requires an outline/border to be associated with.

Perhaps the secret tool you covet so much uses HPBOUND / HPBOUNDRETAIN variable to create a new one, unlike what you've provided on the far right of your DWG file, or if I explode the middle one.

The blocks on the right are dynamic blocks: are you perhaps just really needing help creating one of those instead, to get the actions you desire? aka a misperception of what is going on there.

It has nothing to do with that. I tried that. That block above is created but someone else and I know that they have some custom hatch LISP probably. Thats also my question. Why am I getting different results. You can try to trim them for yourself. If you trim block above that hatch stays associative. If you trim block at the bottom hatch is change to non associative right away.

Interesting that the stipple hatch pattern id defined as "MDF" and predefined rather than custom.

Just did a little experimenting... So it seems, that

 

The first but not the only condition is that you must hatch by the Object selection method.

Second, the hatch pattern definition definitely matters. Also the angle of trimming line.

 

The trimming causes some sort of damage to most of the hatch pattern types. See the file - trimming by a vertical edge affects mostly the horizontal lines of the pattern. For some patterns, as your DASH, it's fatal. BUT if you change the angle to 90°, it will survive.

 

Even the original MDF pattern is damaged - see the (1) file - when copy-paste the trimmed hatch (colored in yellow) over the original blue, you can see that many blue dots that are not covered.

What I know they have some custom LISP for using hatch. I am not sure how. He cannot share that with me since its like company secret. Thats what I am trying to figure out.
