2016 Ribbon panel not updating

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi!

When I change the name of a panel and/or the order of the panels in the Ribbon in the CUI editor, then after closing the CUI editor, the changes are not visible in my Ribbon. I'm using AutoCAD Architecture 2016, but this is standard AutoCAd functionality.

I tried to unload the menu file, delete the .mnr files, changing profiles, but still no changes.

Has anyone a trick to solve this?

TIA Leo

Hi Leo. I don't usually modify an Autodesk CUI just because it will get overwritten every time they issue an update or "upgrade" to it. I would recommend creating a brand new blank CUI which you could use as a starting point - like a container to hold all your own customizations. You can use the Transfer tab in the CUI to create a new CUI and you can populate it with whatever content from the Autodesk file you want. I usually recommend using this file as your main CUI instead of Autodesk's, then bring in the Autodesk CUI as a partial to the main. Because the Autodesk CUI is loaded as a partial, all the standard command elements are there available to put in your interface. R. Robert Bell taught me this. Then you can create whatever workspaces you want from the standard elements without changing the original. The bonus is that you never lose your customizations (during upgrading) if you store this CUI in a separate folder and keep it backed up.

Are you sure that you are not confusing CUI itself with your current Workspace when you check for your changes?

Thanks for reaction!

Sorry, I was not clear. I have created my own menu file (CUIX file). This menu file is in development. But when I change items In my own menu file, like a new panel name, then still the old panel name is showed in the Ribbon.

Basic question to start, are you transferring your edits to your current workspace so that they display on your screen?

No problem at all Leo - glad you got it fixed. I understand. Yesterday I blundered by overwriting 11 programs I wrote and had to track down their backups. Wasted a bunch of time but at least I didn't have to rewrite anything. Sometimes you do have to step away from it!
