Swept path analysis - body envelope distance

Hello, we are dealing with this problem.

We want to create automatic path with VHT that will respect 0,5 m distance from the edge of the road to the envelope of body.

in other words

the green line (body envelope) should not be crossing the yellow area (0,5 m from the edge)

Is there a way how to do it?

This would still be a trial and error approach, but using a follow path would be much quicker then manually steering the vehicle.

I use a civil3d alignment >> with the required radii>>> choose the vehicle >>follow>>> oick the alignment, adjust and repeat (erasing the previous vehicle first unless you want them)

for me its way easier to adjust an alignment then to push and pull the truck.

Your screencast, AVT- follow path, is ready for viewing.

Thank Joe for your video. It seems as the solution or workaround... But still, Autodesk Vehicle Tracking has so many settings and there is no option to follow polyline (with safety buffer) using edge of vehicle body? This analysis is very important for checking the safety of pedestrians...

Thanks

Martin

Hi Jakub,

When creating the path, on AutoDrive dialog, check Clearance offset and input the distance; then there will be the distance between body envelop and road's edge.

Hope it helps.

AutoTURN software has a feature that can follow a path with a certain offset.
