Create custom vehicle in vehicle tracking

Hi all,

I'm working for a construction company and often get asked to assist with site logistics of custom bridge girders in different sizes. I was asked to create a vehicle with Truck + jinker + jinker with the back jinker being able to steer independently. I had a go in the wizard but could not workout how to reverse the truck. I keep getting errors or no path is generated to reverse at all.

Does anyone has a template file for non-standard vehicles that I could use to troubleshoot my vehicle?

If you can share a drawing with the vehicle in it, I can possibly debug that for you.  It would also help if we had vehicle dimensions to go along with it.  This type of vehicle is very doable.

Thanks.

Thank you!

This is what I'm working from. The load length changes but the jinkers and trucks are the same. I'm trying to get this to work so I can easily replicate for other sites and load lengths.

There are a few missing distances in this diagram.  It would be very helpful to have this in CAD.

I would start by modifying one of the Kenworth trucks in the program to act as the cab.  I'm not sure from this diagram if the piece I indicated articulates, if so that section would be the second part of the total vehicle.

The 3rd unit would be the girder, and the 4th the rear wheel steering section.

I think this is doable in the program, if you can get a start at modeling it I can help review and make adjustments.

You might also want to look at the Volvo FH16 Tower Trailer, and modify that.  This is very similar to your vehicle with rear wheel steering.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for the reply. The vehicle I'm trying to replicate would work similarly to the one in this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKGG_30SYK4.

Front jinker articulates, the load can also turn on the coupling and both at a maximum 45o angle so we don't lose the traction of the truck pulling it. Back jinker can steer independently.

Apologies, I sent a screenshot with 2 different vehicles I've attached the correct one with the dimensions. The file also contains my try at the vehicle. I don't understand why it scrambled itself, any ideas? I changed the angles to 45 degrees (perhaps that's what messed up the alignment).

Cheers.

I will take a look at it when I can, I'm in training most of the day today.  I think if you look at the vehicle I sent the clip of earlier you can modify that fairly easily.  I will try to help when I can.

Thanks.
