If we (sensibly) place our .dvb files on the network in a common folder,
we've noticed that only about a dozen users can load the files. Any users
accessing the file after the first dozen or so get nothing. As a workaround
we're pushing our DVBs to the local workstations.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? Any solution? I'd be curious to
know Autodesk's wisdom?

Trevor,
I had this problem before and to work around it, I generate a code that would copy the .dvb file to the local machine and run it from there. When the program is finished, I simply delete it. I do this with xml reference files as well and it speeds up the loading time also, at least for me it does.

But check out the post below, I think it might relate to what you're looking for:

Hey Trevor!

Hope things are going well at the new job. This is a known and heavily
discussed topic. I'm not sure if Autodesk documents it but the general
411 is that only 16 to 20 simulaneous users can access a network dvb.
Yours is the first where the limit is less than 16 that I have run
across. Search the ng for more info.

In 2004 this is solved. But until then you have to work around this
limitation as suggested.
