What? No lock file?

Hi Everyone,
I have a file that is evidently corrupt. The read only attribute is
not set and it's not in use, but it thinks it is. I can't move it,
rename it, or delete it. I get a sharing violation. Restarting the
computer doesn't help and it's not a situation where it's being used by
someone else on a network, ect.
In the past when I've run into this, it's usually on a disk, caused
from the user ejecting the disk without closing out of the drawing
properly. But it's usually accompanied by a lock file, .dwk extension. I
can not find this lock file anywhere. Has it been done away with? Has
anyone else run into this? And how do I get this file off my hard drive?

I think it's using .dwl for the newer versions of Acad. Do you have any of
those with the same drawing names?

Hi Gary,
No .dwl files either, just a .bak. But it seems to have resolved itself
now. I don't entirely know why, but I just checked it again when looking for a
.dwl and this time it was unlocked and I was able to delete it (which may be
why I didn't see a .dwl file).
Thanks for the help,
-Josh

FYI. I Found this in help. Looks like it can be either .dwk or .dwl. Not
sure what the last sentence means. I use MDT4, which crashes a lot. It
leaves behind the .dwl and gives me the read-only when I go to re-open.

If you are using AutoCAD 2000 in a mixed environment with AutoCAD Release
12, Release 13, or AutoCAD Data Extension (ADE), you may also see drawing
lock files with the .dwk and .dwl extensions. AutoCAD 2000 does not use
these files, but do not delete them until you verify that they are not
needed by Release 12, Release 13, or ADE users.
