Visual Basic for Applications

                    I recently was asked to use  VBA  (Visual Basic for Applications) from Microsoft Office.

But I do no have this program as of yet.

And I would like to know  how this program is used with AutCAD, its applications and benefits or cons.

I will appreciate any feedback and insight on the subject.

Visual Basic For Application, or VBA, is the Visual basic programming environment being tighly talored into an application, such as AutoCAD, or one of the MS Office applications (Word, Excel...). VBA is mainly used to customize the application that host the VB. It can only be used inside the hosting application (AutoCAD, Word...).

If you have MS Office (or Word, Excel....) installed, you have VBA in it ready to use, just like if you have AutoCAD installed, you have AutoCAD VBA ready to use (howver, with AutoCAD2013 or later, you need to install VBA separately).

If your purpose is to use VBA in MS Office, then you need to use MS office (MS Word/MS Excel...) to learn that. Useing AutoCAD VBA to learn how to use VBA in MS Office is not much of help (except for very basic VB language syntex). The pro/con to AutoCAD and to MS Office of using VBA is quite different and and won't make much sense to you to compare them.

You might also explain why you were asked to use vba. What are you trying to do?
