Locked Layer Fade

Could anyone let me know how to turn off the layer fade effect when unlocking the layer via VBA, LAYLOCKFADECTL = 48?  In VBA I can set the layer's LOCK property to FALSE, however doing this leaves the layer faded.  If I unlock the layer through the UNLOCK command the fade effect is turn off as well.  I have not been able to find where is this setting stored.  Any help will be appreciated.  Thanks in advance.  AutoCAD 2010

I think you need to force a regen or an update. The variable LAYLOCKFADECTL is the control value. If it is like similar controls then a value of 0 is "OFF". Negative values are allowed and they also mean "OFF". The purpose is to remember the previous setting. So if it was 40 then changing its sign to -40 turns the fade off and allows you to restore to the previously used value by changing its sign without having to save the previous setting.

Thank you for your suggestion.  However, it appears that the variable LAYLOCKFADECTL is not the only one controlling this effect, setting a negative value just turns off the fade effect for locked layers while keeping the value.  If you look at the way the LAYULK works you will see that when you execute it, it unlocks the selected layers but the variable is not modified and the effect still on.  This is more evident if you have more than one layer locked.  It seems to me that somehow there must be a setting for controlling this effect per layer.  Perhaps it is done through a dictionary, an xrecord or something.  I just have not been lucky to find it.

I think it applies to all layers not any one layer. If it did then there would be a layer specific control. I have only 2010 to see and I do not see any layer specific control for fading locked layers. Maybe I have missed it. There is also an xref fade control. Maybe you are seeing this.
