I'm working on a program to nest beams efficiently to cut them from stock.
I have the original strategy to select the largest part and place it on the shortest stock, but that often needs to be tweaked, and I'm looking for any Math sites or VB sites that might give some insight into different strategies to employ when cutting from linear stock.
I've found freeware, but none of it seems to help much, and I really can't integrate it into a program. I need formulas, or at least some pseudocode strategies.
Any ideas? I'll gladly post anything I come up with.
