Changing Model Background in AutoCAD 2007 no longer works when display is shaded.

I have a small VBA program for toggling the
background color of Modelspace between white and black. This program as
been working good for me since AutoCAD 2000 (and MDT vertical) until I installed
AutoCAD/MDT 2007. Now when a shademode - or should I say "visual style" is on -
the program will not change the background color. It still works fine however
when in wireframe mode. This probably has something to do with the new "Visual
Styles". However, I cannot seem to find any information on this feature in the
VBA object model.

Anyone know what's going on here or how to correct
this??
