Acad freezing when vba loaded

Most of the time when I load a drawing into ACAD 2000, the setup stops
before just loading in the VBA. The last two commands start-up shows are
the 'AutoCad Express Tools Copyright..." and "-vbaload" (no arguement).
The crosshairs will not show up in drawing area and the cursor will move
along the command line when I type, but no characters displayed. If I
try to exit I get a dialogue box saying that there is an unfinished
command and Acad cannot shut down. After about 3 or 4 3-fingered
salutes, Windows will inform me that ACAD is not responding and abort
the program. This happens more often when I double click on a drawing
icon outside of Acad. If I open Acad and then insert the drawing
exploded, it seems to work fine. I have reinstalled Acad and installed
Service Pack 1. Service Pack 2 will not install - says I need to install
the #1 first (I have).
Any ideas.

Hi Tom,
Bunch of questions,,,,,,
Are you loading any dvb's at startup via the startup suite or acad2000.lsp?
Any embedded dvb's?
If not, what's your clockspeed, ram, pc manufacturer and OS? If you let it
sit and walk away for 5 minutes, does it return control?, Stay locked up?
Throw up an error? Are you noticing any other programs hanging up besides
acad and not necessarily at startup? Last, but not least, does acad
occasionally hang up while running, during an attedit or print command,
ect.?

Josh,
I am loading one project via the acad2000.lsp, there are no embedded projects.
I have printed out the dvb that I load and started going though it line by line
looking for something that could disrupt loading but cause an error that the
debugger would catch. The code is about 40 pages, so will take some time.
Computer is 850 mHz HP with 192 mb. running windows 2000ME. Not sure about it
returning control after wait. Have not noticed any other programs having the
problem, but have had acad freeze up before at what seems to be random
commands, but cannot recall it freezing up during attedit. Do not print from
this computer, saving all drawings to R14 and plotting them from another
computer on network.
