Show links in Thin Client

Show links in Thin Client

Show links in the Thin Client.

Useful if you create by example a folder with links to different major assemblies of a project.

This would be great enhancement to the Thin client, if it will be available it will be much easier to control and manage files with different user control structures. Sharing will be much more easier even with different folder structures and rights define on a specific files or folders.

Yes please! This is a major issue for customers moving from Productstream Professional. Multiple links between projects and documents in PSP are translated to links in Vault. In all these cases the Thin Client is useless so far…

Agree to RajSchmidt! Much-needed for us to changeover PSP to Vault.

Verknüpfungen zu Dokumenten innerhalb des Tresors werden nicht im ThinClient dargestellt. Projektbezogen abgelegte Verknüpfungen, zum Beispiel zu Standarddokumenten, sind somit nicht einsehbar!

English Translation

Linked documents can not be displayed in the thin client
Links to documents within the vault are not displayed in ThinClient. Project-related links, for example to standard documents, are therefore not visible!

We have migrated from PSP as well, and this is indeed an major concern for us. We rely on shortcuts / links in PSP as many parts are used across different projects.

People moving from PSP sorely miss this functionality.

The Thin Client is rendered useless for viewing files containing hyperlinks that need to be accessible to non-VAULT users.  Using hyperlinks on documents (PDFs, Excel, Word, etc.) is common practice for us, and with many others I expect.  Correcting this limitation is of key importance to using the Thin Client for accessing documents in VAULT.

Discovering these limitations encourage our migration to other solutions... just my two cents

is it possible to:

Links created in the Vault Explorer client are visble in the Vault Thin Client?

Hi all,

Maybe the following workaround is working for you.

  1. A person which have access to the Vault Client (Vault Explorer) create a link to the file(s)
  2. The person send the link(s) with Email to the colleagues which they need it

Another way could work is, to have a directory within Vault which is for the "Thin Client" persons only with access to the files/folders they should see.

Is this maybe a way for you guys to work with, until the requested function is inplemented within Vault?

How you @ihayesjr and the QA/Dev Team of Vault think about this way?

Kind regards,

@mschindler-mum , I don't think your workaround will accomplish what is intended with this Idea.
