Simply show the vault status of files on your hard drive in the open file dialog box. This would allow the user to determine the file status on the fly and would be very helpful when cleaning out the working directory.

It would be great if it would be possible to add massive 3rd party libraries straight into the vault. For example a 3rd party catalog from let's say Cadenas which consists of many, many Gigabytes of 3D models, must now be installed seperatly, each part must be added through Inventor to the Vault, but it would be great if one could just add ALL 3D data to the Vault as library in one simple step.

Hi, I've found on multiple ocasions that co-workers forgot to check in new files, causing them to be non-existant in the vault. It would therefor be useful if it would be possible to do a comparison between the current vault directory that is displayed and the corresponding local working directory. another suggestion: in a previous version it was still possible to chek out an entire folder. As file numbers can grow large, having to select each one by ticking the box now is extremely time consuming. (Or am i overlooking an option somewhere?) It would be good to have this functionality once again. In relation to the previous idea, this check-out entire folder option can greatly facilitate local workspace maintenance as you can also perform an undo-chekcout on all files and remove all local working copies, leaving the non-checked in files on your system, which can then be sorted out easily. When releasing a folder, we always want the files contained also released. Currently we must realease all the files before we release the folder (If configured so), so it's nothing more useful than set the ACLs on the folder directly, except that only administrators can set ACLs. I know we can leave all files uncategorized and then release the folder so all files get locked. Unfortunately this is not the common practice. In most case, files get categorized when they are checked into vault and get their lifecycle states assigned, so when the folder is released, no acl change will be applied on the files, files not released will not be locked. There should be an option when changing the state of a folder, let user choose to include all files in the change, just like when releasing a file we can select include all children or parents.

Hi, The new search functionality in-CAD (lets say AutoCAD) is great, specially the way it shows item links inside the folder viewed in the search window (and double-clicking these links will show the attached files). What I'm missing is a search on these (at least!) links. It is wonderful I can double click on the item link and get the associated drawing files to choose for open, but I would like to see a search on item attributes - mainly item number of course, in order to locate the desired file for opening. As it is implemented at the moment, the user is able to search only files or folders, and the functionality with double-clicking an item link can be used only if I already know where it's at. If an item search function will be available, many designers will rarely have to even open the client for their daily work, if at all.

Current it is only possible to search existing Ideas when you create a new idea. Move the Search to the top level of this site

Currently the Inventor addin supports this very helpfuly and time saving feature. Extend to all existing and future Vault Addins within all Autodesk Products and MS Office integrations.

For some complex assembly, there are several independent drawings to represent it with same part number but different sheet number. If there is some changes on any one of these drawings, we hope to add all of these drawings to run file-based ECO, then we could keep them with same revision.
