To increase the reuse of parts in assemblies it would be a perfect addition to the existing search features for the Vault API. Possible use case: User creates a new variant from an iLogic Master-assembly.  With iLogic Standard components, standard iParts/modelsstates can be easily reused/replaced if they already exist, but data that is classified as "order"-specific is almost never considered for reuse.  So a new variant for an "order"-specific part gets created (no ipart, just a normal part) with the Inventor iLogic addin and we want to find/reuse it. We need to search all "orders" if that part has been created before. Today we use the "internal name" and some classification attributes for searching and it is working well, but it is not 100% secure and a manual check is always necessary. Adding the duplicate search to the Vault API in order to compare two part-documents for checking against a geometric match would be a great benefit.    Show More

Microsoft PowerBi is part of Office 365 Subscription. This product allows to create reports on almost all kind of solutions and is a central point for companies who need a 360° view of the activity. You could connect in those BI tools: ERP, CRM, PLM, Cloud services, etc. But..... not PDM Autodesk Vault.   Why? Because there is no solution to query live the Vault Database (the Vault API is not a solution in this case). Absolutely crazy.    Most important missing feature is the ability 'get' files, it breaks so many ilogic workflows by not being able to bring files down to a users machine.
