Filter Config.xml Location

Filter Config.xml Location

Can you please move the location of Filter Config.xml on the server please to a more obvious location.

We installed Vault Server running under a domain user account, however it was not obvious we needed to apply special permissions to the current folder. When adding mapped AutoCAD attributes to properties, because the Vault Server user had no write permissions to this file, the attribute mapping was not saved. On the vault client there was no obvious errors of the problem, (The dialogue showed the property being added OK), but when returning to the dialogue the setting was not saved properly.

Thanks for posting the idea. Where, what folder location, did you install the Vault Server? You should not have needed to apply special permissions to the file.

We installed vault in the default location.

However we set  vault to run as a domain user.

However the domain user did not have write permissions to the folder Filter Config.xml is stored in

It was not obvious we needed update this directory with write permissions for the domain user.

All our other files i.e. the file store & db's are in a separate drive with full control for the user.

The consequence was property mappings were not working correctly and took several hours with autodesk support to track down this as the root cause.

Either applying the permissions change to the necessary folders when the Vault User is set, or moving the file into a more obvious location would have helped.

Hi Irwin, just a comment to say a related issue cropped up again. Here's some feedback..

We just upgraded our 2018 server to 2020.

When upgrading we had to uninstall, and reinstall...

On the installation dialogue for Vault Impersonation user, on our system, it will not validate a domain account.

So we used a local account for the install, and then changed to the domain user we want to use in ADMS console.

This was the same behaviour on the 2016 or 2018 install (issues using domain account in installer)

When checking in DWF's, and error logs the server has the below error for each create DWF attempt..

Now checking the directory C:\Program Files\Autodesk\ADMS Professional 2020\Server\Components\

The directory has write permissions for the local account used in install, but not the domain account.

Adding the permissions resolves the error and dwf creation is now possible (ven though the file FilterConfig.xml) does not exist, and so far has not yet been created. (Noting the settings in our 2018 server config are still persisted).
